About
Hi, Iām Will Terry š
I recently completed my Masterās in Robotics and AI at UCL, where I focused on practical applications of autonomous systems and perception. Throughout my studies, I spent countless hours developing the robotics projects showcased in the Uni Projects tab ā each one an opportunity to combine creativity with technical depth.
To stay active in the field, Iāve been working part-time as a Teaching Assistant for an embedded systems course at UCL, helping students program STM32 microcontrollers and integrate various sensors. This experience has deepened my understanding of hardwareāsoftware interaction and reinforced my passion for hands-on engineering.
Iām now eager to launch my career in Robotics and SLAM, and Iām actively pursuing opportunities where I can contribute to innovative, real-world systems.
Outside of robotics, I enjoy experimenting with creative projects (see the Projects tab), cooking, and staying active. I previously worked as a cook, which taught me patience, timing, and precision ā skills that surprisingly align well with robotics! Iām also an avid gamer and tinkerer, often setting up custom servers for Minecraft and Terraria on repurposed Linux machines for friends. š

Education
MSc Robotics and AI, University College London, UK
September 2024 ā September 2025
Completed an MSc in Robotics and AI at UCL, focusing on the computing side of robotics, including SLAM, path planning, machine learning, and computer vision. Building on the skills gained from my BEng, I tackled complex projects that strengthened my confidence in designing and implementing advanced robotics systems. My dissertation, āAutomatically Tuning Factor Graph-Based Estimation Using Bayesian Optimizationā, is in the early stages of preparation for future publication.
Machine Learning Specialization, Deeplearning.ai | Stanford Online
April 2024 ā June 2024
Completed a Machine Learning Specialization through Deeplearning.ai and Stanford Online, covering supervised and unsupervised learning, recommender systems, and reinforcement learning. This program strengthened my understanding of key ML algorithms and their practical implementation, laying a strong foundation for my postgraduate work at UCL.
BEng Robotics and Mechatronics, University of Leeds, UK
September 2020 ā June 2023
Graduated with a BEng in Robotics and Mechatronics from the University of Leeds, gaining a strong foundation in intelligent systems, embedded design, and control engineering. Developed practical skills in programming microcontrollers, designing sensorāactuator systems, and implementing robotic control algorithms. Explored machine learning applications in robotics and additive manufacturing for rapid prototyping. Served as EDI Representative for the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, promoting inclusivity and engagement across the student body.
Work Experience
Robotics and AI Teaching Assistant, University College London, UK
August 2025 ā Present
Supported embedded systems and computer vision labs, creating 5 STM32 projects and guides for final-year students. Assisted with lab setup, supervised sessions for 60+ undergraduates, and developed a pitot-tube wind tunnel sensor for ground-truth data. Contributed to hands-on learning materials that enhanced the practical experience for students. This role has strengthened my teaching and mentoring skills, guiding students through tasks and advising on their thought processes. It has also kept me engaged in robotics, a field I aim to build my long-term career in.
Product Management Intern, Edwards Vacuum, UK
June 2024 ā September 2024
Built a PowerBI product configurator adopted across 2 global sales regions, managing 2,000+ product configurations and enabling scalable reporting. Mentored 2 graduate hires, improving onboarding efficiency and team output. Recognized by leadership for project impact, earning a contract extension, and collaborated with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows. This role gave me valuable insight into business operations and reinforced my desire to pursue an engineering-focused career.
Senior Supervisor, Dilli Curry Restaurant, UK
June 2023 ā December 2023
Promoted to Senior Supervisor within 2 months due to leadership and reliability. Managed a team of 5 front-of-house staff, improving service efficiency and customer satisfaction. Mentored new employees and implemented operational improvements to enhance team performance and workflow. This role taught me important lessons in leadership and team management, particularly in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
Kitchen Assistant / Cook, Oak Hall Care Home, UK
June 2019 ā June 2023
Worked intermittently during gap years and university breaks, progressing from a kitchen porter to a cook by demonstrating dedication and passion for food. Gained hands-on experience in meal preparation, kitchen operations, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and efficiency. Developed teamwork, time management, and responsibility skills while supporting the care homeās catering needs. This role was highly influential in developing my passion for cooking and experimenting with different techniques independently.
